My Prayer

Keep me from getting talkative,
And particularly from the fatal habit of thinking
That I must say something on every subject and on every occasion.
Release me from the craving to straighten out everyones affairs.
Keep my mind from the recital of endless details:
Give me wings to get to the point.
Seal my lips when inclined to tell of my aches and pains.
They are increasing with the years
And my love of reciting them grows sweeter as the years go by.
Teach me the glorious lesson
That occasionally it is possible that I may be mistaken.
Keep me reasonably sweet.
I do not want to be a Saint;
Some of them are hard to live with,
But a sour old woman is one of the crowning works of the Devil.
Help me to extract all possible fun out of life.
There are so many funny things around us,
And I do not want to miss any of them.
Make me thoughtful but not moody,
Helpful but not bossy with my vast store of wisdom,
It seems a pity not to use it all,
But thou my Lord knoweth
That I want a few friends left at the end.

Amen.

Joy, you asked about the little stand I have my teacups and saucers on in my latest post. I think I got it at an antique store, although it's not antique. Not sure where you live - do you go to Canton? I think I've seen them there. I LOVE the pond on your previous post. I'm working to put in a pond right now! Jacki

I've heard that prayer before. I think it's good. The Joy graphic is really pretty.

Hi Joy, cute little prayer, love your pond! Thank you for stopping by my blog. I used to work in a library, it was a fun job. It was only part time and I wanted full so I left but do miss it.
Blessings!

Hi Joy

I just tried to e-mail you with the World Emporium info. It bounced back. Don't know the problem.

The garden center is located on Hwy 61, north of Wentzville. It's just outside of town on the left as you drive north.

They have golf carts if you would like to use those to see the whole place. We walked around the main area and over to the trees this week. We've used the golf carts in the past. That is so convenient.

I've been meaning to ask if you work the book fair for St Charles County Library. We try to go every year. Usually on Friday or Saturday. Love it!

Hey Pat, not sure how to email you either but I do work at the book fair. Last year my dd and my dh helped out also. The friends who sponsor that do alot of good with the money they make from that sale.

Hi Joy...I love this prayer, much of it applies to me:). Your pond is great, I imagine it's very entertaining with all fish. I've always hoped for a pond, maybe this year.
Too bad about Salsa..hope her meds are helping.
I enjoyed your blog...thanks for the visit, come visit anytime. Linda
