Almost Mothers Day!

Always Mom

You were my fairy tale princess,
So much larger than life.
You were my angel and my witness
Through all my pain and strife.
At times you made me angry,
Great words I would proclaim
How someday you'd be sorry.
You were the one to blame.
But when I needed comforting
You always found the time.
Your words were more soothing
Than days of childhood sublime.
Now the distance holds us apart,
The boundaries have no end.
I'll hold the memories in my heart.
You're my mother, my best friend.

I so understand the Mother and Daughter relationship now better
than every since I have a sixteen year old daughter. One minute
she hates me the next she loves me and I remember so much more
of the relationship I had with my own Mom at this age. Just
hope we have a good relationship like my Mom and I have now in
a few years. Hope you all have a Happy and Wonderful Mothers Day!

My Daughter & I are very close. She is 37 & I am, well anyway.... Give it time. That is the great equalizer!!
Happy Mother's Day!!

Joy, I can relate..my daughter is a teen also, and its a difficult age for mom to do anything right.....but there are the loving moments and shared laughter in between the battles...I hold onto those! And the other night I dreamt that she was a baby again, and I was kissing her cheeks just as I loved to do when she really was a baby.....what a happy dream...I told her when I woke up in the morning and she laughed and said, "get over it, I'm not a baby anymore..." they grow up so fast..its a cliche but yet, so true...

Regards,
Lavinia

Thanks for stopping by to visit. This is the first time visiting you blog. I can relate to the daughter issues. I have six of them, one is still a teen. My teen and I get along great. My other daughters and I had moments of ...mmm....growing pains.....now we are all close. Our oldest now lives in your state, a long way from home, but we talk lots on the phone. I'll visit again.

Hi Joy!
This was just a beautiful tribute to your mother, and someday it will be a tribute to you from your daughter!
I started calling and telling my mom how sorry I was when I got out on my own, sorry for anything I could think of!!!! I began to understand the sacrifices she had made and the troubles I had caused...it all works out in the end!
Bless you,
Donna Lynn

Hi, Joy, and thank you so much for stopping by to visit!

How wonderful to find a book lover's blog, and a LIBRARIAN to boot! Surely the best job in the world. My husband and I are major readers and our home is filled stem to stern with them.

I am adding you to my blog favorites right this minute and am going to start going through your author blogs, several a day, until I read each one -- how kind and thoughtful of you to post such a great list!

Oh, and Happy Mother's Day -- that was a lovely poem. Although I'm sure if you look back at your own life, you were SURELY the PERFECT daughter, yes? But if while you were a teenager your Mom was always saying to you, "I hope you grow up some day to have a daughter just like you, young lady!!", you probably were not. :-)))

Warmest regards, Ronda

I hope you do have a great relationship with your daughter too, I am sure you will.
The poem is so lovely too. I often remember my mother telling me her mother told her she'd understand 'one day' and my mother said the same to me. I am sure I'll say the same to my son when he is old enough to give me cheek too!

Hi Joy! Thanks for stopping by today!

What a sweet poem. I also have a teenage daughter (15) who thinks I'm the worst person in the world some days. Like you, I hope that someday we'll have a good relationship like I do with my mom now. But right now, it's so hard and makes me so sad sometimes.

Hope you have an especially happy Mother's Day!
