Book Description from Amazon

July 31, 2012
Her heart races, her muscles coil, and every impulse in Alessa's body screams at her to run... but yet she's powerless to move.

Still struggling to find her footing after the sudden death of her parents, the last thing college freshman Alessa has the strength to deal with is the inexplicable visceral pull drawing her to a handsome ghostly presence. In between grappling with exams and sorority soirees - and disturbing recurring dreams of being captive in a futuristic prison hell - Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless. But the terrifying secret she uncovers will find her groping desperately through her nightmares for answers.

Because what Alessa hasn't figured out yet is that she's not really a student, the object of her obsession is no ghost, and her sneaking suspicions that something sinister is lurking behind the walls of her university's idyllic campus are only just scratching the surface...

The opening installment in a twist-laden trilogy, Stitch spans the genres of paranormal romance and dystopian sci-fi to explore the challenges of a society in transition, where morality, vision, and pragmatism collide leaving the average citizen to suffer the results.

My Review

I love how the story of Alessa and Isaac drew me in right from the beginning. At first I thought it was going to be a ghost story/time travel story-line and then it swiched to more of the dystopian genre.
The story opens up with Alessa and Janie who are friends living in a sorority house that may be haunted. Later we find out that is not the case and that everything that Alessa believes her life to be is a lie. She finds herself obsessed with the ghost of the house, Isaac. She feels like she has to warn him about a fire that threatens to destroy his family. When she talks to her friend Janie about her visions she finds out more was going on
at the college campus where she is living than she ever dreamed possible.
From there the story gets a little confusing with bouncing around from the present day and the past and with the characters.  But I feel that will keep readers on their toes and very  intrigued. I am looking forward to the second part of this trilogy and I am sure there are other readers and bloggers that will feel the same. Samantha Durante will be one of the authors that I recommend to my Young Adult Readers at the library were I work.  If you are looking for a read alike author for Suzanne Collins or P.C. Cast, Samantha Durante would be one of my top picks.

Sharing upcoming releases with Jill at Breaking the Spine.
This week I am sharing another upcoming Christmas book. Not your
ordinary Christmas book but I love Patterson's - Alex Cross series.
This one is coming out in November.

Book Description

November 12, 2012 Alex Cross
It's Christmas Eve and Detective Alex Cross has been called out to catch someone who's robbing his church's poor box. That mission behind him, Alex returns home to celebrate with Bree, Nana, and his children. The tree decorating is barely underway before his phone rings again--a horrific hostage situation is quickly spiraling out of control. Away from his own family on the most precious of days, Alex calls upon every ounce of his training, creativity, and daring to save another family. Alex risks everything--and he may not make it back alive on this most sacred of family days. Alex Cross is a hero for our time, and never more so than in this story of family, action, and the deepest moral choices. MERRY CHRISTMAS, ALEX CROSS will be a holiday classic for years to come.
