The Summer Girls

     Editorial Reviews

   From Publishers Weekly

It's a beautiful summer on Sullivan's Island, and Marietta Muir has brought her three granddaughters together for a retreat for the first time in many years. Author and narrator Mary Alice Munroe delivers a charming, emotional, and funny performance that will appeal to female listeners of all ages. Munroe knows her characters like no one else could, and her portrayals of the summer girls are subtle, realistic, carefully crafted, and pitch-perfect. The result is a simply presented, honest audiobook about four women and how even strong family ties can loosen over time. A Gallery paperback. (July)

Thank you so much for the book! I highly recommend it. I enjoyed it and read it practically non stop once I had the time to pick it up and begin. I learned quite a bit as well about dolphins and their habits. Also why it's important not to feed them and other sea creatures. I have been to a hospital for sea turtles near West Palm Beach and was fascinated by the work they do.

It was the relationships though that really grabbed my interest. I'm not from a blended family, nor did I have one, so it opened my eyes to some of the difficulties of having a close relationship with a sister you don't live with. I do have three sisters of my own and sisterly relationships enrich your life greatly. The drama in the book had a ring of truth and was very believable and sometimes heart wrenching. Thanks again for the book and I will pass it along to another this week for someone else to enjoy as the summer slips away.
